Tethr is an anti-doomscrolling application designed to monitor your screen time and intervene when necessary using entirely on-device Edge AI. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data to any external servers.

2. Use of Accessibility Services

Tethr utilizes Android's AccessibilityService API to function properly. This service is essential for the core features of the app:

• Screen Time Monitoring: To track how long you spend inside specific social media applications and detect doomscrolling behavior.
• Intervention Overlays: To draw protective overlays (like the math quiz or exit prompts) over addictive applications when a usage threshold is reached.

Important: The Accessibility Service is used strictly for reading the current foreground application package and displaying overlays. Tethr does not read your private messages, passwords, or any sensitive on-screen content. All processing related to your screen time and AI triggers happens 100% locally on your device.

3. Data Collection and Edge AI

Tethr operates using Edge AI, meaning all behavioral analysis is performed locally on your smartphone hardware. Because of this architecture:

• We do not collect personal data.
• We do not collect usage statistics or analytics.
• We do not transmit your application usage history over the internet.

4. Permissions

To function, Tethr requests the following permissions:

• Accessibility Service: To detect which app is currently on-screen.
• Display Over Other Apps (System Alert Window): To display interventions when you exceed your time limits.
• Write Secure Settings (via ADB): (Optional) Used for advanced system-level interventions like hardware grayscale.
